About six rooms and some stores in a compound house have been engulfed by fire at Aboabo, a suburb of Tamale. The fire destroyed household items, food stuff and undisclosed sums of money belonging to some of the victims of the fire. The cause of the fire is not yet known as Personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service have commenced investigation. Northern Regional Acting Public Relations Officer for the service, ADO Grade Two, Baba Hudu, said but for the timely intervention of the Personnel, the fire would have spread to other rooms in the house.
When GBC News got to the scene of the fire, some of the victims whose shops were affected were seen salvaging what they could get from the debris of the fire as they counted their loss.
This is the second time a fire has gutted the area since the beginning of the year. Just a few weeks ago, more than 10 shops were affected by an outbreak at the Aboabo Market, in Tamale.
