Christmas, though a festival to celebrate the birth of Christ Jesus by Christians around the world, has been touted as a season or period of feasting, giving and sharing, and family reunion. In light of this many people share the little they have with their families, vulnerable and less privileged in society.
Formed in 2012 in the Eastern Region of Ghana, the Pinamaa foundation, a Non-Profit Organization, with a core mandate is to help the underprivileged and vulnerable in society with a focus on Women Empowerment, Teenage Pregnancy reduction, Health and Nutrition, and Child Education is set to partner the Zoomlion Foundation to feed and empower people this festive season under one of their flagship projects dubbed Food for Soul which will be held in Bukom in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana.
Speaking on GTV’s Breakfast Show, the Deputy Executive Director of the Pinamaa Foundation, Madam Lilian Orgah described the project as one that will thrive on food and nutrition which is a core mandate of the foundation. She added that the “Food for Soul patrons will be treated to over three thousand packs of nice meals, music, dance, health talks, and entrepreneurial and skills training”.
According to the Executive Director of the Pinamaa Foundation, Madam Philipina Akyea, the partnership with the Zoomlion Foundation is to give meaning to previous collaborations.
“Zoomlion Foundation has been empowering people in the area of plastic collections and waste management around the Bukom and James Town environs and by that, they will be presenting awards to people who have excelled with the training and skills given them by the Zoomlion Foundation,” she said.
The event will see professionals from the health sectors educate the people on issues relating to their health safety and also entrepreneurs to train them on some entrepreneurial skills acquisition.
“It will also be an avenue for the education on waste management in our societies and how to deal with plastic in the environment,” Madam Phillipina announced.
