The National Association of Institutional Suppliers has demanded that the government pay arrears owed to members of the Association.

The delay in payment, according to the Association, is affecting their business as most of them are unable to repay their bank loans.

The situation is equally affecting their mode of doing business with the government.

At a media briefing in Accra to drum home their concerns, a member of the Association, Emmanuel Ayivor, said the Association is giving the government 14 days to settle the arrears as the suppliers play a key role in the Free SHS Policy.

The National Association of Institutional Suppliers, which comprises food suppliers, uniform suppliers, and stationery suppliers, is keen on retrieving outstanding debts owed to them by the government for the past academic years. They are also calling for an increase in some supplies by the Association.

The Association noted that despite a series of meetings held with the government, nothing fruitful has emerged from them. They added that the batches five to 19 left to be paid their arrears should be done urgently.

The meeting was themed “Government pay all 2022 outstanding debt and increase prices”.
