A former Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Obuasi Municipal Assembly under the previous National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration, Mr Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi, has been confirmed as the new Metropolitan Chief Executive of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA).
His confirmation follows his nomination by President John Dramani Mahama to serve as the new Mayor of Kumasi.
Mr Agyemang Boadi’s overwhelming victory came after a decisive vote by Assembly Members of the KMA. He secured 55 out of the 56 votes cast.
The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene, in his address, urged the new Mayor of Kumasi to prioritise decongesting the city, improving sanitation, and addressing key challenges at the Kejetia Market following his confirmation.
He noted that these issues continue to hinder development in the Kumasi Metropolis and pledged that the Regional Coordinating Council will collaborate with the KMA to tackle challenges confronting residents.
Mr Agyemang Boadi thanked the President and Assembly Members for the trust reposed in him and pledged to work diligently with all stakeholders to ensure that the Kumasi Metropolis receives its fair share of development.
