Former President John Dramani Mahama has condemned the unlawful killing of an
investigative journalist by unidentified gunmen in Accra on Wednesday.
Addressing delegates of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at Koforidua in the New
Juaben South constituency on Thursday, Mr. Mahama said his heart was heavy after learning that Ahmed Hussein-Suale, a journalist who worked with Anas Aremeyaw Anas’ Tiger Eye P.I. was shot dead whilst on his way home in Accra on Wednesday.
These were contained in a statement issued and signed by the Spokesperson for John Mahama campaign, James Agyenim Boateng on Thursday, January 17, 2018.
Acording to former president Mahama in the statement which was copied to gbcghanaonline from the Eastern regional capital of Koforidua, “journalists should not be killed in cold blood because of the work they do”, adding that it is a blot on Ghana’s reputation as a beacon of democracy in Africa.
Mr. Mahama who on his flagbearership campaign tour of the Eastern Region, noted that similar unlawful killings in the recent past have created a state of fear and panic.
He therefore called on the state security institutions to do more to protect the citizenry.
Ahmed was shot three times, twice in the chest and another in the neck late Wednesday night at Madina in Accra while he was driving by unidentified men on a motorbike.
