Four Police Officers and a Scrap Dealer have been remanded into custody for an attempted attack on a bullion van last February 22 at North Kaneshie in Accra.
The Policemen are Yaro Ibrahim, Albert Ofosu, Richard Boadu, Rabui Jambedu all General Constables and Razak Alhassan.

They have been charged with attempt to commit crime and abetment of crime. According to the Prosecutor, DSP Sylvester Asare, following several street robberies and attacks on bullion vans in 2021 the police mounted surveillance to arrest the suspects.

He said the Police was informed of the attempted attack on a bullion ban on February 22 at North Kaneshie and began investigations which led to the arrest of one Constable Reindolf Ansah who is now deceased. He is alleged to have admitted the offence during interrogation.

DSP Asare said further investigations led to the arrest of Lance Corporal Stephen Nyame who is also deceased and the five accused persons. They allegedly confirmed being part of the series of bullion van robberies in Accra. These include the attack which led to the death of Constable Emmanuel Osei at Jamestown Adedemkpo. The prosecutor told the court that the deceased policemen mentioned two Nigerians at Ashaiman as their accomplices.

He said last Sunday, the deceased officers led the Police to arrest the two Nigerians but were killed in a shoot out. DSP Asare said efforts are underway to arrest the Nigerians who are currently at large. The case has been adjourned to March 28, 2022.
