The Board of Trustees of the National Cathedral together with the Eastern Regional Coordinating Council, RCC and the Local Council of Churches has launched a Fundraising in Koforidua to support the building of the National Cathedral.
The Eastern Regional Minister, Seth Kwame Acheampong noted that the building of the cathedral is significant not only to serve as a place for inter-denominational worship Centre but also to promote the cultural values it represents.
Mr. Acheampong said Ghana has about 70% of its population as Christians, but regretted that the country has no edifice to reflect this fact. This he noted is the reason Ghanaians should embrace the building of the National Cathedral.
Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the National Cathedral and Metropolitan Archbishop of Cape Coast, Most Rev. Charles Gabriel Palmer-Buckle said the vision and the dream of President Akufo-Addo to build the monument should not be politicized but should rather been seen as a way of giving thanks to God.
The President of the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs, and the Konor of Manya Krobo Traditional Area, Nene Sakitey called on citizens to support the cause.
He noted that the monument aims to bring all religions under one umbrella during national celebrations.
The Methodist Bishop of the Koforidua Diocese, Rt. Rev. Dr. Emmanuel Asare Kusi preaching on the theme: “Give Thanks to God in All Things” advised Christians to render thanks to God in all circumstances.
He added that thanksgiving is relevant in the lives of Christians and urged them to demonstrate their appreciation to God.
