Director General of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), Professor Amin Alhassan says the GBC is committed to the promotion of the country’s cultural content.

He said as a public service broadcaster, the GBC does not focus on commercial values but on national cultural interest.

Professor Alhassan said this when the Executive Director of the National Commission on Culture, Janet Edna Nyame presented a citation to the Corporation for its role in the successful organisation of this year’s National Festival of Arts and Culture, NAFAC which took place at Koforidua in the Eastern Region.

The Director General expressed gratitude to the Commission on Culture for the recognition, adding that NAFAC provided the platform for Ghanaians to celebrate their diverse national culture.

Madam Janet Edna Nyame said the Commission will consider organising series of lectures on the country’s cultural identity to enable the youth to appreciate their cultural heritage. She noted that the Commission will need the collaboration of GBC in this regard.
