GBC’s Doreen Ampofo speaks to Journalism Students at Arizona State University, USA

The Ghana Broadcasting Corporation’s, GBC, Doreen Ampofo has given a short lecture to First Year Journalism Students at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the Arizona State University, USA.

It focused on Ghana’s history, media landscape as well as her experience as a Journalist working in a Public Service Institution.

It was also a platform meant to shed light on Public Service Broadcasting in Ghana highlighting finances, political interference in operations, equipment challenges and their implications on productivity.

Doreen Ampofo, Host of GBC’s Current Affairs Program on radio, ”Behind The News”, in an interview described the platform as ”a unique public speaking opportunity”.

She is part of 13 Hubert Humphrey Fellows from around the world at the Walter Cronkite School undergoing leadership training.

Her focus is to receive training to become an accomplished Communicator in a project that would aid advocacy against the phenomenon especially for women in Ghana who are accused of witchcraft.

The Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship is a 10-month program for young and mid-career professionals who have a proven track record of Leadership and Public Service to undertake a non-degree study at a leading U.S. University.

The program awards a certificate from the U.S. Government.

Among other things, the program provides a basis for establishing lasting ties between citizens of the United States and their professional counterparts in other countries, fostering an exchange of knowledge and mutual understanding throughout the world.
