Four journalists of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, GBC, have been nominated for the 28th GJA media awards scheduled for September 28.

This prestigious event recognizes outstanding journalists who have demonstrated excellence in their craft.

President of the GJA, Albert Dwumfour, at the unveiling of the shortlisted nominees in Accra, emphasized the critical role the media plays in shaping public understanding transcending geographical, social, and cultural divides.

The four GBC nominees were among 31 others shortlisted for the honors.

They were selected from 36 categories. The ceremony will feature a new category known as the Akoto Ampaw Awards for good governance in honor of the late private legal practitioner for his dedication to the protection and promotion of media freedom.

Key among the prizes at stake are the prestigious P.A.V Ansah Journalist of the Year, the Best Female Journalist of the Year, Komla Dumor’s Most Promising Journalist of the Year, and Best Student Journalist of the Year.

GBC’s nominees are Doreen Ampofo, Naa Dede Akrong, Clara Mlano, and Beatrice Senadju.

Mr. Albert Dwumfour said there is no doubt that this year’s ceremony will honor the outstanding work of media professionals who have demonstrated exceptional journalism, creativity dedication to truth, and good storytelling.

The Chairman of the 28th GJA Media Awards Committee, George Ramsey Ben Amba, provided the shortlisted nominees for the awards ceremony saying the committee received over 300 entries representing all other categories.

“What we used as our guide as a committee was a seven-point guide which included accuracy, balance, relevance, impact, background, ethics, and language presentation”.

The 28th awards ceremony will also climax the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the GJA.
