GBC’s Naa Dzagbley wins Shipping and Logistics reporter of the year

Susana Naa Dzagbley Ago adjudged the Shipping and Logistics Reporter of the Year at the 5th Ghana Shippers’ Awards.

 

The Ghana Broadcasting Corporation’s (GBC) Susana Naa Dzagbley Ago has been adjudged the Shipping and Logistics Reporter of the Year at the 5th Ghana Shippers’ Awards in Accra on August 19, 2022.

The award is to encourage journalists who report on the shipping and logistics sector to stick to the high standards of journalism in the delivery of their duties.

The award recognized stories produced under the year of review which made a sustainable impact in informing importers and exporters on pertinent happening in the sector.

Mrs. Dzagbley Ago has over the past decade transitioned from a National Service Personnel in the GBC Newsroom to becoming a Senior Reporter and Deputy Editor on the Business Desk.

She told the news team after receiving the award that: “It has been a journey reporting on issues in the Shipping and Logistics sector. I am encouraged and this would spur me on to do more. It is always a good feeling when you are acknowledged for your work.”

The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Shippers’ Authority (GSA), Ms. Benonita Bismarck encouraged her to do more to support efforts at protecting and promoting the interest of importers and exporters across the country.

The 5th Ghana Shippers’ Awards was on the theme “The negative impact of Covid-19 on the survival of the shipping and logistics industry”.

Speaking on behalf of the Minister of Transport Kweku Ofori Asiamah, the Deputy Minister for Transport, Frederick Obeng Adom and Member of Parliament for Upper West Akim said the government has begun processes to streamline charges at the port and reduce the cost of shipping.

He used the opportunity to also appeal to shippers to comply with all operational requirements and avoid cutting corners as the consequences if caught would be detrimental to their operations.

The event organised by Globe Productions in partnership with the Ghana Shippers’ Authority and supported by the Ministry of Transport, Ghana Maritime Authority and Ghana Ports and Habour Authority awarded sixty-six (66) companies and individuals in the shipping and logistics sector.
