GBC’s Rebecca Ekpe invited to Media Capacity Engagement for Human Rights Journalists in Geneva, Switzerland

GBC Online’s Editor-in-Chief, Rebecca Ekpe, is among a cohort of selected Journalists globally invited to participate in the Universal Rights Group’s Media Engagement Programme for the 50th Regular Session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva Switzerland.

During this period, the journalists would participate in programmes designed to enrich their work as practitioners particularly and in supporting to find workable solutions to human rights issues in prospects countries.

While in Geneva, the journalists across board would attend the 50th Session of the UN Rights Council and benefit from the training sessions,  briefings by the Diplomatic Representation, NGos, and duty bearers as well as the International Federation of Journalists.

Journalists would also be introduced to the work of Council and its mechanisms, since it is critical to the overall understanding of the work and operations within the UN Human Rights System.

Another aspect of exposure for the Journalists while in Geneva includes online and physical safety of Journalists, more especially throughout the Media Engagement.

Swiss Registered Think-tank, Universal Rights Group is facilitating the Media Engagement Program with support from the Permanent Mission of Denmark to the United Nations in Geneva.
