The Department of Children, under the Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection, in partnership with UNICEF has convened a stakeholder engagement to discuss and refine draft child protection toolkits for educators.

The primary objective of the engagement was to gather feedback and input from key stakeholders, as well as to pretest draft flashcards on child labour and Mental Health and Psychological Support (MHPSS).

The developed toolkits and flashcards are designed to ensure their relevance, effectiveness, and alignment with the needs of communities and stakeholders.

This initiative, spearheaded by UNICEF Ghana, aims to equip stakeholders, especially community members, government officials, NGOs, and service providers, with the necessary and right toolkits to help identify, prevent, and respond to child abuse, neglect, and mental health issues.

The draft toolkits and flashcards, developed in collaboration with UNICEF Consultant Madam Margaret Owusu-Amoako, are designed to be user-friendly guides covering a wide range of child protection topics.

The stakeholder engagement brought together representatives from government agencies, non-governmental organisations, and educators.

Participants engaged in productive discussions, sharing knowledge, experiences, and insights to ensure the toolkits are relevant, effective, and adaptable to the Ghanaian environment.
