The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has embarked on a diplomatic journey to India, marking his first official trip outside Africa since assuming office. This visit is a testament to the strong historical ties between Ghana and India, built on mutual respect and cooperation. He expressed his delight in choosing India as his first destination outside Africa, stating, “I am extremely glad it is to India — a reliable, trusted and historical partner since the days of Nkrumah and Nehru, and with whom we share South-South development aspirations.”

He emphasized that the relationship between Ghana and India is deeply rooted in history and shared values. He noted, “India is a reliable, trusted, and historical partner for Ghana, tracing back to the era of Kwame Nkrumah and Jawaharlal Nehru.” This partnership is built on shared South-South development aspirations, reflecting a deep commitment to mutual growth and cooperation. He further highlighted** the significance of this visit by stating that it underscores the importance of India as a strategic ally for Ghana in the global arena.

During his stay, Ablakwa will participate in the 10th-anniversary edition of the Raisina Dialogue, India’s premier conference on geopolitics and international affairs. He stressed that this event provides a platform for discussing global challenges and opportunities, aligning with Ghana’s interests in international cooperation and economic development. He added, “I shall also be participating in the Raisina Dialogue which is commemorating its 10th anniversary.” The Raisina Dialogue is hosted by the Observer Research Foundation in partnership with India’s Ministry of External Affairs, attracting dignitaries from around the world.

He concluded by expressing optimism about the future of Ghana-India relations, stating, “Great times for Ghana-India relations.” He noted that this visit marks a great time for enhancing collaboration in various sectors, highlighting the potential for increased economic and diplomatic ties between the two countries. The bilateral engagements are expected to further strengthen the economic and diplomatic ties between Ghana and India, building on their historical friendship and shared development goals. As Ghana continues to expand its international partnerships, this visit to India signifies a significant step forward in fostering stronger global alliances.
