Ghana’s decline in fertility in the last forty years from 6.4 percent to 4.2 percent has not reflected much in economic growth.
This development known as demographic dividend looks at financial benefit in relation to shift in age structure with decrease in fertility and mortality rates.
Executive Director of National Population Council, Dr. Leticia Appiah, who said this, stressed the need for the country to improve its investment in key sectors of the economy like family planning, health, education and skills development.
Dr. Appiah was speaking at the launch of Demographic Dividend Advocacy Documentary in Accra.
