Ghana is on course to establish a Nuclear plant by 2030. The project which is already in a second phase is to complement the energy supply of the country.

This was made known by the Deputy Director, Nuclear and Alternative Energy, Ministry of Energy, Dr. Robert Sobadji, on GBC’s Current Affairs Programme, Focus, which discussed alternative energy sources in an era of proposed utility tariff increase.

Mr. Sobadji said, ”new technology in the nuclear sector makes it safe for use.”

Contributing to the discussion Chief Operations Officer Hanergy Global Group, Professor Hugh Aryee, noted although plans at establishing a nuclear plant are laudable, there are concerns over citing the plant and resources to fund such a project.
