Ghana pledges to be “Credible Voice for Global Peace” in Russia meeting

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has held a productive meeting with the Russian Ambassador to Ghana, His Excellency Sergei Berdnikov, to discuss various aspects of the two nations’ bilateral cooperation.

The meeting, held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, covered a broad spectrum of issues aimed at strengthening the existing ties between Ghana and Russia. Mr Ablakwa emphasized Ghana’s commitment to fostering mutually beneficial relationships with all nations, guided by its enduring foreign policy principles.

“I had a fruitful discussion with Ambassador Berdnikov, addressing a wide range of issues under our bilateral cooperation,”  Mr Ablakwa stated

“Ghana remains dedicated to its longstanding foreign policy of positive neutrality, and we will continue to serve as a credible voice for global peace.” The Minister added

Ghana and Russia have historically collaborated in trade, education, defense, and energy, among other sectors.

The Minister’s remarks underscore Ghana’s resolve to maintain its independent stance on international affairs, advocating for peaceful resolutions and cooperation on the global stage. This policy of positive neutrality has been a cornerstone of Ghana’s foreign relations, allowing the nation to engage with diverse partners while upholding its commitment to peace and stability.

The meeting highlights the ongoing diplomatic efforts to enhance the bilateral relationship between Ghana and Russia, focusing on areas of mutual interest.
