The Ghana Police Service has taken delivery of One Hundred and Nine (109) vehicles to compliment their efforts in fighting crime.
At a short handing over ceremony in Accra, Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia said government is committed to equipping the service with the needed logistics to enable them to nib crime in the bud.
He urged the Police Service to put the vehicles to good use for the benefit of all.
Since 2017, government has provided about 289 vehicles to the Ghana Police Service.
The latest addition is to help the police stand in readiness when the need arises.
Vice President Dr. Bawumia said the situation where individuals have to convey the police to a crime scene at their own cost will now be a thing of the past.
He said government recognising the pivotal role the police service play in ensuring peace and security, will not relent on its efforts to equip the service adequately.
The Minister of Interior, Ambrose Dery giving the details of the vehicles urged the service to put the vehicles to proper use.
The Deputy Inspector General of Police, James Oppong-Boanuh who expressed gratitude to the the government said the vehicles will go a long way to support operations.
While urging the officers to exhibit professionalism in their work, the Deputy IGP called on the public to volunteer information for swift action.
Vice President Bawumia announced that another 109 vehicles are in the offing for the the Police Service in the next three months.
