The Inspector General of Police, Mr. James Oppong-Boanuh, says, the Police Service, is exploring new strategies, to ensure that personnel are up to date on modern policing. According to him, one such measure is the creation of an air wing unit. The IGP, also highlighted some decisions contained in a communique after a three-day conference.
The National Police Command Conference, NAPOCC, an annual meeting of senior members of the Police Service, is to examine the service’s activities and plan for the way forward. At the end of the conference, NAPOCC members made several resolutions, top on the list was the welfare of Police personnel.
The Inspector-General of Police, Mr. James Oppong-Boanuh mentioned that, the Service, as part of improving policing in the country, has built a hanger in anticipation to receiving three helicopters the government has promised to acquire for the Service
The Chief Director of the Ministry for the interior, Mrs. Adelaide Anno-Kumi, urged the Police Service, to continue to reflect on the strategies proposed at the meeting, to fight violent crimes to make communities safe.
She also tasked the Police to find concrete solution to addressing the alarming rate of road crashes, that are claiming lives unnecessarily.
This year’s conference, which focused on the security of personnel in the police service, saw participants from all 16 regions and Tema in attendance.
