The Ghana Shippers’ Authority (GSA) has once again demonstrated its prowess on the sporting stage, emerging as the Kings of Table Tennis at the 2nd edition of the Platinum Cup Corporate Games.
With an impressive performance, GSA secured victory in both the Men’s Table Tennis and Women’s 100m race categories.
After an eight-year hiatus since its inaugural edition in 2016, the Platinum Cup Corporate Fun Games made a return on Saturday, April 27, 2024. The 2nd edition of the Platinum Cup offered a diverse range of sporting events and team-building activities, challenging participants’ physical abilities, strategic acumen, and teamwork skills.
From football to table tennis, 100m races to drafts, the competition provided a platform for corporate professionals from twelve public and private institutions including International Maritime Hospital, Stanbic Bank, Volta River Authority (VRA), Omega Foods and Beverages Limited, University of Ghana Sports Directorate and Hi-Lynks Communications to showcase their talents and foster camaraderie.
The intense showdown in the Table Tennis category saw GSA facing off against formidable opponents, including the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), before ultimately clinching the trophy with skill and determination. Similarly, in the Women’s 100m race, GSA showcased their athletic prowess, securing a resounding victory with a significant margin eliciting cheers and applause from spectators. Project Lead for RITE Sports, organizers of the Platinum Cup, Yaw Sekyi said “The Platinum Cup is more than just a fun tournament for corporate institutions; it’s an opportunity for teams to come together, challenge themselves, and create lasting memories.”
For GSA, the competition presented the opportunity to cultivate team spirit, increase employee engagement and elevate its corporate visibility among the wider business community. It also afforded GSA the opportunity to connect with participating import/export business operators in efforts that seek to create value for the Shipping Industry by mitigating the needs of the Shipper.
