A group of Ghanaian philanthropists broke Guinness Record when they embarked on a trip from Accra to London by road. This act by the group put the name of Ghana on the global stage and also promoted Ghana brands.
According to the group, their aim was to use the trip to raise money for charity work in the country.
Many people were enthused by this achievement and have honoured them in their own way.
Soho Restaurant and White Gardens in Accra held a dinner for the team members to honour them for their heroic adventure, which has kept the public talking.
The dinner also gave Guinness Ghana Limited and other organisations the opportunity to make presentations to the team.
Speaking to the media, the representative for Soho and White Gardens Restaurant, Mr John Michael Appiah Acheampong, said they were motivated by the achievements of the team and informed them to host the dinner.
He said the trip was a perfect opportunity for Ghanaian and African brands to show themselves to the world.
He added that he is looking forward to Ghanaian companies, especially, supporting their vision and sponsoring them on their next trip to Cape Town.
The Commercial Planning Manager for Guinness Ghana Limited, Mr Suntaa Konogini, said valuable lessons should be taken from the group’s determination. He said people always laugh at those who have dreams, but that should not deter one from pursuing them.
He called for collaboration among companies to put together efforts to support people who embark on worthy causes.
