The Ghana Integrity Initiative (GII), has launched an “Interfaith Anti-corruption project dubbed “Speak up, Resist and Report Corruption”.
The project seeks to solicit the support of religious leaders and faith based organizations particularly to lead in the fight against corruption.
The Ghana Integrity Initiative says its new anti-corruption campaign is an attempt to fight corruption from the moral perspective as other mandated agencies deal with the criminal aspect.
In GII’s view, Religious Leaders and Faith Based Organizations are integral parties when it comes to propagating the gospel against corruption. With support from the Danish Government, GII is promoting the project; “Speak up, Resist and Report Corruption”.
The Danish Ambassador to Ghana, Tove Tove Degnbol said supporting Ghana’s anti-corruption fight represents a global responsibility to ensure that the world is free of corruption.
A representative from the Faith Based Organizations, Sheik Aremeyaw Shuaib, said ”corruption can be destructive for the nation and its people if not checked”.
Ghana Integrity Initiative, GII is the local chapter of Transparency International, the global civil society organization leading the fight against corruption.
GII seeks to fight corruption and promote good governance in the daily lives of people and institutions by forging strong, trusting and effective partnerships with government, business, civil society and engagement with people.
