GJA rules out proxy voting in elections

The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), has maintained that eligible voters will not be able to cast their votes through another person in the national and regional elections.

A statement issued by the Elections Committee of the Association said Ghana card, voter’s ID, and Passport will be the only identification for voting on Friday, June 24.

The statement signed by Secretary of the Committee, Peter Martey Agbeko, stated that the poll will start at 8:00 a.m. and end at 3:00 p.m.

According to the Committee, “campaigning ends at midnight Thursday, June 23. Campaigning at the polling centers is prohibited.”

POLLING CENTRES: 
The elections will be held throughout the country, using the underlisted centres.

i. Greater Accra
a. Graphic Communication Group
b. New Times Corporation
c. Ghana News Agency
d. Ghana Broadcasting Corporation
e. Press Centre – Accra
f. Tema – GBC Obonu FM

ii. Volta Region:-Ho – GJA Press Centre

iii. Central Region:-Cape Coast: Graphic Office, MinistryBuilding.

iv. Western Region:-Sekondi-Takoradi – GBC Office

v. Bono, Bono East, Ahafo:-Sunyani Regional Electoral Commission
Office.

vi. Northern Region:-Tamale – GBC Office

vii. Upper West:-Wa- GJA Office

viii. Upper East: Bolga–Electoral Commission Municipal Office

ix. Ashanti Region:-Kumasi – Regional Electoral Commission
Office.

x)Eastern Region:-Koforidua- Regional Electoral
Commission Office.

The statement on Thursday, June 23, added: “Oti region will join Volta for voting, similarly, Western north will join Western Region for the same purpose.”
