President of the Ghana Journalists Association, GJA, Albert Kwabena Dwumfour has taken a firm stand against attacks on the media while stressing the importance of professionalism among media practitioners and institutions.
The GJA President, vehemently condemned any acts of aggression or hostility towards the media and urged media professionals to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, emphasizing that the GJA will neither tolerate nor shield unprofessional behavior within the industry.
“The GJA does not and will not condone unprofessional conduct , we will not seal nor provide cover for deviance of professionalism,” he said.
He further declared the plan of the GJA to initiate techniques to eliminate unprofessionalism within the media landscape.
“In the coming days, we shall roll out a monitoring mechanism based on which we shall call out media practitioners and institutions that lower the bar of professionalism” he added.
The GJA President concluded by emphasising the importance of journalists’ welfare, declaring the Association’s unwavering dedication to advancing this cause “without fear or favor.”
He made these assertions in his address at the 27th GJA Awards held at the Accra International Conference Center on Sunday, 29th October, 2023.
