Government has developed a master plan to achieve the President’s target of making Accra the cleanest city in Africa and achieve SGD 6 by the 2030 target date.

The $3.05 billion master plan which will be implemented for the next thirty years will seek to increase waste processing and recovery facilities to 60 percent while reducing the use of landfill to up to 40 percent.

It will also increase fecal sludge coverage to 67 percent.

At the final consultation with stakeholders on GAMA Integrated Urban Environmental Sanitation Master plan, the Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, Cecilia Abena Dapaah, said the document will be a blueprint for major cities and help meet SDG six.
