The Minister nominee for Health, Kwaku Agyemang-Manu, says government has made an advance procurement of additional one hundred Ambulances to augment the three hundred and seven already in the system to improve upon health delivery in the country.
He noted that the service of the National Ambulance has been significant especially during the outbreak of the Coronavirus.
The Minister nominee was speaking at the graduation of the third batch of advanced Emergency Medical Technicians at the Paramedics and Emergency Care Training School at Nkenkaasu in the Offinso North District of Ashanti.
He disclosed that Government is committed to ensuring that quality health service delivery is brought to the door step of every Ghanaian. He announced that the Ministry of Health will soon operate a Comprehensive Emergency Medical Service System throughout the country.
It is designed to reduce medical emergency deaths, injuries and permanent long-term disability.
The Chief of Mpehi near Offinso, Nana Osei Sarpong, appealed to Government to urgently consider upgrading facilities in the school. He also appealed to the management of the National Ambulance Service to consider the Offinso Traditional Council by giving them a quota in the recruitment process.
In all, one hundred and twenty-eight personnel graduated to become Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians. The overall best graduating cadet, best in academic and the CEO award went to Officer Cadet Evelyn Boamah Asantewaa while the best in practicals and drills went to Officer Cadet Sarah Pobee.
