A Deputy Energy Minister, Dr Mohammed Amin Adam, says government has invested ¢4 million into the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to help address some of its challenges.

The minister explained that the financial injection was made after government paid debt it owed the power distribution company.

Speaking at the Chamber of Bulk Oil Distributors Energy Manifesto Town Hall meeting in Accra, Dr Amin Adam said government is supporting ECG to run efficiently.

He said his outfit has implemented the Cash Waterfall Mechanism to prevent the growth of the energy sector-wide indebtedness.

Dr Amin said the mechanism is a key policy intervention to ensure availability of liquidity for the power and gas sector players.
