In response to recent news circulating in certain media outlets about a proposed 15% fare increase starting from November 2nd, the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) has issued a statement refuting these claims.

“We wish to place on record and for the information of drivers and the general public that no such decision has been taken, and neither the GPRTU nor the GRTCC have negotiated for any fare increments,” the statement read.

Both the GPRTU and the GRTCC have stated that no such decision has been made, and there have been no negotiations for fare adjustments.

They strongly disavow the reports and suspect that certain individuals are behind the misinformation, aiming to sow discord among transport operators and passengers.

They further called on all drivers and the public to ignore such news of an impending fare hike.

The Transport Operators also emphasised the need to adhere to the current transport fares and regulations set by their stations for the maintenance of orderliness in the industry.
