The Eastern Regional Statistician, Bright Worlanyo Neku has asked the public to look out for identification on officials of the upcoming Population and Housing census so as not to fall prey to dubious persons who might take advantage of the exercise to steal from innocent people.
He made the appeal in an interview with GBC News in Koforidua. Mr. Neku cautioned people to be wary of their surroundings, those they come into contact with and be vigilant on officials who will be around to enumerate them.
He said census officials will come with tablets, identity cards, introductory letters and reflective jackets with the census logo and 2021 Population and Housing census embossed at their back for easy identification.
Mr. Neku noted that the Eastern Region is well prepared to undertake the exercise as all logistics including tablets, maps and over six thousand personnel to be deployed for the exercise.
He said that the region has been demarcated into smaller units called enumeration areas to make it easy for the officials to work.
On publicity about the exercise, the Regional Statistician noted that the Service will embark on what he termed an aggressive publicity drive to educate the public on the need to get involved and make themselves available to be counted during the census period.
He said his office will make use of community information centers, electronic media as well as reaching people at the markets, churches among others to enhance education on the exercise.
