Members of the Holy Spirit Fire Centre Assemblies of God, in Tema Community 8, organized a picnic for members, as part of activities to mark this year’s Easter Monday activities.
The event started with a walk from the Ayi Mensah Police Station to the Peduase Lodge in Aburi in the Eastern Region.
The well attended walk saw hundreds of church members take part in a health walk.
Head pastor of the church, Rev. Desmond Anderson, said the exercise was also an opportunity to evangelize and win souls for Christ.
The Walk which is the second in its series has become an important event on the church’s calendar which members look forward to. Participants actively jogged, amidst jama and good music, and took part in aerobic sessions after the walk.
Head pastor Holy Spirit Fire Centre Assemblies of God, in Tema Community 8, Rev. Desmond Anderson, encouraged Christians not to shun physical exercise, as it is equally important to growth of the body.
He said the exercise is to promote the health of church members.
A deacon of the church, Patrick Darko, was happy about the warm reception of members to the exercise.
He said over prioritizing spiritual needs over the physical does not promote holistic growth hence the move. He acknowledged the increased participation of members as a sign that many yearn to exercise but due to life pressures are unable to. He said that the church will plan and organize more of such health games.
Members later converged on the church premises to engage in other outdoor activities such as Ludo, Oware, football, the children were not left out in the games, the church had Bouncy castles and other child friendly games for children. The members were excited to be part of the health walk.
