Hundreds of Ghanaians and some foreigners, mostly Chinese massed up at the Achimota Hospital to be inoculated, as part of the second phase of the National Covid-19 Vaccination Programme to ensure that Ghana attains herd immunity by close of 2021.
The Medical Superintendent of the Hospital, Dr David Okoh, said the Okaikoi North Municipality has received 14,000 doses of the Johnson and Johnson vaccines to be dispatched to all centers within its purview.
However, for now, the facility had received about 600 doses with more than 200 people vaccinated by mid-day.
Dr Okoh stated, “no adverse reactions have been recorded at the facility. Meanwhile, there is a team on standby to attend to any person who might have any adverse reaction to the vaccine.”
Some of the vaccinated persons including about 10 Chinese shared their experiences with the jab. They expressed satisfaction especially, “with the swiftness of the process though they had to wait for more than 30 minutes in a queue before the vaccines arrived around 8:30 am before the jab was given”.
Officials have, however. reminded everyone to take note that the vaccine is for only those who have not yet received any jab.
