IGP commissions three police stations in Eastern region

The Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, has commissioned three police stations for three communities in the Eastern South Region of the Ghana Police Service to help maintain public order and the safety of persons and properties in the Eastern Region.

The beneficiary communities include Akyem Muoso in the Atiwa West District and Moseaso and Abekoase in the Atiwa East District of the Eastern Region.

During the commissioning of the police stations, Dr. Akuffo Dampare assured Ghanaians that the Police have put in place measures to ensure peace before, during and after the December 7 elections.

During the commissioning at Akyem Muoso in the Atiwa West, which witnessed a mammoth of residents gracing the occasion, the IGP commended the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, for the trust reposed in him by appointing him as the Inspector General of Police. 

He noted that the police service under his control will continue to devise modern strategic initiatives to help protect the people and properties in the country to ensure that there is peace and order in Ghana. Dr. Akuffo Dampare reiterated that the Police Service will continue to evolve and embark on strategies that will position the service for every Ghanaian to admire and to be part of the service.

Touching on their preparation for the upcoming December 7 general elections, the IGP re-emphasised that the police service and other security services belong to the people of Ghana and therefore advised all officers to perform their duties professionally in order not to be tagged as belonging to any political party.

He advised Ghanaians, especially the youth, not to allow themselves to be influenced by politicians to foment trouble and that anyone found culpable will be dealt with drastically according to the law.

The Eastern South Regional Police Commander, DCOP George Bossman Ohene-Boadi, commended the IGP for the initiatives and strategies he brought into the police service to help in combating the dynamism of troublemakers and curbing chieftaincy disputes and robbery, among others.

The Akyem Muosohene, Osabarima Dr. Owusu Beyeeman, used the opportunity to appeal for the establishment of a telecommunication network in the area to enable them to have access to an effective telecommunication network in the area.

Osabarima Dr. Beyeeman also appealed for vehicle for the police station to ensure the effective discharge of duties of the police in the area. He donated a cash amount of 50 thousand cedis and land for the construction of residence for the police officers.

At Abekoase, the Abekoasehene, Barima Akroma Appiah Acheampong, commended the IGPs efforts in ensuring peace and order in the country. He hinted that the development of every community depends on its security, adding that the commissioning of the police station in the area has come at the right time.
