The Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori Atta is rallying the support of Parliament to pass the Income Tax Amendment Bill, Excise Duty and Excise Tax Stamp Amendment Bills in Parliament in order to speed up the process of acquiring the much needed IMF support.

The approval of these outstanding revenue mobilisation Bills will help the Board Approval for the $3 billion International Monetary Fund (IMF) Programme Staff- Level Agreement as well as boost efforts at increasing Tax-to-GDP from less than 13% to the sub-Saharan average of 18%.

Speaking at the launch of the Electronic Platform by the Ghana Revenue Authority, Mr Ofori Atta said his visit to China has been successful, but the onus lies on Parliament to deliver on their part of the deal.

He is therefore “appealing to Parliament to approve these Bills to enable the government to access the IMF support.
