Government has responded to what it describes as political commentaries associated with the termination of PDS agreement.
According to the Information Minister, since it emerged that government intended to terminate the agreement there have been various spinning from many quarters on government intentions.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC), has accused government of indulging in what it describes as the biggest corruption scandal and willfully causing financial loss to the country.
In a response, Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah said such comments are unwarranted and paints Ghana in bad light to the international community.
Meanwhile, The Electricity Company of Ghana, ECG has formally taken over the operations and finances of Power Distribution Services, (PDS).
This follows processes by government to terminate the PDS agreement with the filing of documents with PDS and the Energy Commission.
Already Ghana has lost the 190 million dollars grant by its US partners as part of the power concession agreement.
Briefing the media in Accra, Mr. Oppong Nkrumah said the termination has become necessary after Ghana and the United States concluded on the resolution of residual matters of the Compact Two Agreement which involves PDS.
He said it is expected that residual matters between ECG and PDS will commence in earnest.
