President-elect, John Dramani Mahama, says Ghana will deepen its relations with the European Union, EU as part of a broader measure of creating job opportunities for the youth. He said Ghana receives a lot of direct foreign investments from the EU but the country has been shut out of the international market.
However, the incoming government will raise the co-operation a notch higher to benefit from the EU.
Mr. Mahama said this when the EU Ambassador to Ghana, Irchad Razaaly, paid a courtesy call on him at his residence in Accra.
Mr. Mahama said as soon as his government assumes office, he will meet with the EU to review the areas of co-operation to conform with the governments policies and programmes enshrined in the NDC
s 2024 manifesto.
On the deaths that unfortunately occurred during the 2024 election, Mr. Mahama promised to institute an investigation into it.
The EU Ambassador to Ghana, Irchad Razaaly congratulated Mr. Mahama and the Vice President-elect Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, and expressed optimism about Ghana-EU relations going forward.
