Former Auditor General, Daniel Yaw Domelevo, has accused members of the judiciary of failing to comply with asset declaration laws, calling it a breach of the Constitution. Speaking on Joy News’ PM Express on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, he expressed disappointment over the widespread non-compliance among public officials.
Mr. Domelevo stressed that many officials misuse public funds for personal gains and highlighted the importance of asset declaration in ensuring accountability. He pointed to the Auditor General’s reports, which reveal how public funds are often misappropriated.

He also shared his experience of enforcing asset declaration laws, revealing that even top judges, including former Chief Justice Kwasi Anin Yeboah, failed to declare their assets. “It was clear that even the judiciary, which should lead in law enforcement, didn’t declare,” he said.
He criticized oversight bodies like the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) for not taking action against non-compliant officials.
According to him, CHRAJ dismissed complaints, arguing that there were no legal punishments for failing to declare assets.
Mr. Domelevo questioned why officials are allowed to assume office without meeting constitutional requirements.
He compared it to a president refusing to take the oath of office, emphasizing that asset declaration should not be ignored. He called for stricter enforcement and penalties for non-compliance to promote transparency in governance
