Justice Mingle laid to rest

Media persons met to bid a somber farewell to one of their respected members, Justice Mingle, who was laid to rest in Accra on Friday, November 15.

Mr. Mingle, a former Head of Radio Newsroom at the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), passed away after a short illness. He leaves behind a legacy marked by dedication and influence at the nation’s public service broadcaster. He passed at age 62.

He was affectionately called Boss Mingle.

He never wanted the front seat or too much attention to himself. He was perfectly happy with his pen and paper doing what he loved—being a journalist.

Like clockwork, he was at post, often as early as 3 a.m., gaining him respect for dedication. Justice Mingle joined the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation on November 14, 1990, and retired on April 12, 2022.

Throughout his career, he worked at various levels in the newsroom, serving as a Team Lead, Head of the Metro Desk, Supervisor, Assignment Editor, and eventually News Editor.

He concluded his distinguished service as Head of Radio News, a position he held until his retirement in 2022. He was an adept, proficient, and skilled journalist whose news commentaries were a pleasure to listen to. 

Under his leadership, GBC radio experienced significant growth, both in its programming and in its reach to the Ghanaian audience. Many remember Boss Mingle as a passionate advocate for media ethics and an influential mentor to young broadcasters.

Colleagues, friends, and family members gathered to pay their final respects to the man Justice Mingle, remembering him for his professionalism, leadership, and commitment to GBC. Family members and friends described him as a man of unwavering integrity, remarkable intelligence, and genuine kindness.

In its tribute, GBC celebrated Boss Mingle’s invaluable contributions to public service broadcasting, describing him as a pillar of strength and guidance. The corporation acknowledged his profound impact on the media, noting that he left an indelible mark on GBC’s legacy.

The church celebrated his commitment and achievement in the children’s department.

Family, friends, and colleagues say they will carry forward fond thoughts and his laughter, as well as his positive work ethic.

Friends in the media say Boss Justice Mingle is synonymous with service, mentorship, and unwavering dedication to radio in Ghana. 

Justice Mingle is survived by his son, Rudolf, and father, Mr. Victor Mingle.
