K-NET battery storage room near GBC Krachi Radio in the Krachi West Municipality of the Oti Region has been ravaged by fire. The incident was reported when a resident noticed smoke emanating from the shortage room and raised an alarm on Saturday, October 19, 2024.

The Ghana National Fire Service arrived at the scene without their water tank as it had developed a fault a few days prior to the incident, according to an Officer who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Efforts by the officers and community members who tried to douse the fire proved futile, as the battery shortage room was burnt to ashes.

One person was hospitalised due to an explosion but is currently in stable condition, as confirmed during a visit by the news team this morning, Sunday, October 20, 2024.

No GBC Krachi Radio equipment was damaged, and the station remains on air.

However, digital television transmission in the Krachi West Municipality has been interrupted due to the incident, affecting access to several channels in the area.
