The Kofi Annan International Peace Keeping Training Centre, KAIPTC has introduced a new Academic Programme on Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning for Peace Support Operations in Africa.

The Course is a response to the peculiar needs of the AU and ECOWAS within the scope of Peace Support Operations.

The new course has been introduced to mainly satisfy the demands of International Donors as well as defray the complexities and high cost associated with the implementation of African Peace Support Operations.

The Commandant of KAIPTC, Major-General Francis Ofori, speaking at the opening ceremony in Accra said the scale and scope of Peacekeeping depend heavily on donors who in turn demand transparency and accountability in the use of resources.

Major-General Ofori said both the AU and ECOWAS in 2019 requested the KAIPTC to develop a course, tailored to the Monitoring and Evaluation requirement, thus, the introduction of the new course.

The Program, which is request-specific is on a pilot basis and will offer a unique opportunity for civilians, Military and Police Officers already serving or interested in going on AU/ECOWAS Peace Missions.
