A Justice of the High Court has sent a word of caution to people who make unprovoked utterances particularly in the wake of the elections.

Justice Amos Wuntah Wuni who is the presiding judge in the Kennedy Agyapong contempt case said as a Judge he swore an oath to do justice to all manner of people without fear or favour.

Justice Wuntah Wuni said any person who goes against the law will be dealt with accordingly.

He made the remarks after adjourning the case of contempt against the MP for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong.

Justice Wuni adjourned the case to Friday, September 25, for Mr Agyapong’s lawyers to respond to the charges against him. The Court said its attention has be drawn to the case filed at the Supreme Court but has not received any orders from the Apex Court to stop the case.

Lawyers of Kennedy Agyapong led by Kwame Gyan argued that the returned date at the Supreme Court is October 13, but the Court said it cannot wait for a whole month to dispense justice and that it is going to deal with the matter until the Supreme Court determines otherwise.

MP for Effutu, Alex Afenyo Markin who is also one of the lawyers of Kennedy Agyapong, explains further what transpired in Court.

“The court took an adjournment so we could further raise the issues. Law has no imitation. Once an officer of the court, in this case, counsel, engages the court on a healthy exchange on matters of law, a Judge minded to ensuring justice in the matter, will do what My Lord has done. We think My Lord has demonstrated that he always wants the law to reign supreme.”

Justice Wuni stated that he does not hold any grudge against Kennedy Agyapong.
