Former President Kufuor urges academia to lead efforts in tackling illegal mining and its devastating impact

Former President Kufuor called on the academia to lead the conversation in developing measures on the best way the country can deal with illegal mining activities and their impact on society.

The Former President made the point after he and the Omanhene of Asante Asokore, Nana Susubiribi Krobea Asante, were honored with honorary doctorate degrees by the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration, GIMPA, in Accra.

The prestigious recognition celebrates their remarkable contributions to the country’s development.

President Kufuor, known for his remarkable achievements during his presidency from 2001 to 2009, has left an indelible mark on Ghana’s history.

His administration’s domestic policy focused on stabilizing the economy, promoting private sector growth, and enhancing social service.

He also expressed concern over misinformation regarding his stance on the arrest of democracy hub protesters. Clarifying his position, he emphasized the need for balanced reactions from authorities to correct the youth.
