The Accra High Court has ordered former National Chairman of the NDC Samuel Ofosu Ampofo and a former Deputy Communications Officer of the party Anthony Kweku Boahen to open their defence to charges of conspiracy to cause harm brought against them.

The two were charged following a leaked audio in which they are alleged to have plotted to harm the Chairpersons of the Electoral Commission and the National Peace Council.

The two were charged in 2019.

The two accused former party executives filed a submission of no case last November 24 after the prosecution closed its case having called  three witnesses.

They contended that the prosecution witnesses were unable to prove the charges against them so the Court should acquit and discharge them.

However the Presiding Judge, Justice Samuel Asiedu held that the prosecution was able to establish a prima facie case against them.

He said there is evidence on record in respect of the charges against them which the Court is satisfied with. In view of that the Court concluded that it is prudent and proper that the accused persons open their defence.

Mr Ofosu Ampofo has also been charged with assault for allegedly inciting NDC Communicators against the Chairpersons of the EC and National Peace Council.
