President John Dramani Mahama has directed a full-scale investigation into allegations of drug trafficking and money laundering at Kotoka International Airport.
This follows claims made by Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, a member of parliament, during a press conference regarding two suspicious flights allegedly linked to illicit activities.
In response, President Mahama assured the public that the government takes such allegations seriously. He has instructed key investigative bodies, including the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC), the Police Criminal Investigations Department (CID), the National Investigations Bureau (NIB), and the National Security Coordinator, to work collaboratively with Rev. Fordjour to uncover the truth behind the claims.
“We will maintain zero tolerance for using Ghana as a transit or final destination for drugs or drug trafficking,” President Mahama stated in a post on Facebook.
He also referenced a recent drug bust by the NIB, which seized narcotics valued at $350 million.
Authorities are expected to release further updates as the investigation progresses. The government has reiterated its commitment to ensuring transparency and accountability in combating drug-related crimes.
