The Northern Region Muslims Council of Ghana (NRMCG), has congratulated President-elect John Dramani Mahama on his victory in the December 7 elections.
In a statement signed by the Chairman of the NRMCG, Sheikh Issah Alhassan Abubakari, the council praised Mahama’s victory as a testament to the trust and confidence Ghanaians have in him.
The council urged Mahama to work tirelessly for the betterment of the nation and also commended Vice President Alhaji Dr. Mahmmudu Bawumia for his gracious concession.
“His actions have demonstrated that, even in defeat, one can still uphold the values of statesmanship and patriotism,” the statement read.
The NRMCG also condemned the violent conduct that marred the peaceful elections and called on the youth of the region to stay away from such behavior. “We must all work together to promote peace, tolerance, and understanding,” the statement emphasised.
The council praised the roles played by chiefs, imams, pastors, security personnel, the media, and other partners in ensuring a peaceful election process. “Let us unite in our pursuit of a brighter future for our nation and put aside our differences to work towards common goals,” the statement concluded.
