The President, John Dramani Mahama, will host His Excellency Petr Pavel, President of the Czech Republic, for a three-day state visit to Ghana from April 8 to 10, 2025.
The visit marks the first time a Czech Head of State is visiting Ghana since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Ghana and the former Czechoslovakia in October 1959.
It will also be President Mahama’s first state visit hosted since returning to office in January 2025.
According to a statement signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications, the visit aims to strengthen bilateral ties and deepen cooperation between the two nations.
During his stay, President Pavel will engage in bilateral discussions with President Mahama, focusing on enhancing partnerships in areas such as trade, investment, healthcare, and technology. He is also expected to address a Ghana–Czech business forum
In addition, President Pavel will inaugurate a Czech-funded health facility, underscoring the growing development cooperation between the two countries. His itinerary also includes visits to historic sites such as the Osu Castle and the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park.
To honour the visiting dignitary, President Mahama will host a State Dinner at the Jubilee House.
The visit is seen as a significant step towards revitalising Ghana-Czech relations and exploring new opportunities for mutual growth and development.
