Police have arrested Nii Baah Afful, a man seen in a widely circulated video assaulting a young woman who was carrying a baby.
The video, which went viral on social media, showed Afful striking the woman multiple times with a stick. Reports indicate that the attack occurred after the woman told him she was ending their relationship, citing her new partner as “more handsome, responsible, and caring”.
The footage sparked widespread outrage, with advocacy groups and members of the public calling for immediate police intervention.
In response, the Greater Accra Regional Police Command confirmed Afful’s arrest in a statement, assuring the public that the matter would be handled with urgency.
“The suspect, Nii Baah Afful, is in police custody, assisting with investigations and will soon be taken to court to face justice,” the statement said.
Authorities reiterated their commitment to ensuring justice is served and urged the public to report cases of domestic violence.
