Chairman of the Appiatse Support Fund, the Rev. Dr. Joyce Aryee says the Fund has received the first tranche of the fine imposed on Maxam Ghana, the Company whose truck caused the deadly explosion in the Community.

This, she said, has moved the total funds accrued by the Trust Fund to about GHC37.7illion cedis. Speaking on the Uniiq Breakfast Drive, Dr. Aryee said the second tranche of the fine is expected to be received soon. The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources imposed a GHC6Million administrative fine on Maxam after the company was found culpable of regulatory breaches.

GHC5Million of the amount is to finance the reconstruction of the Community which was almost wiped off after the January, 20 Disaster. The Rev. Dr. Aryee encouraged Ghanaians to contribute generously to the fund to ensure the normal lives of the people bounce back.
