In a passionate address during the 2025 Budget debate in Parliament, the Minority Leader, Hon. Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, urged the government to prioritize the welfare of farmers, particularly in the Volta Region.

Speaking on the floor of the House, Hon. Afenyo-Markin emphasized the challenges faced by farmers in various districts, calling for increased investment in agriculture to boost productivity and improve livelihoods.

“The farmers in Dzota, Akatsi, among others, continue to struggle, yet there is little intervention to support them,” he stated.

The Minority Leader expressed hope that the government would take immediate steps to address these issues and ensure the development of the agricultural sector.

The 2025 Budget debate continues as Parliament deliberates on key policies and expenditures for the coming fiscal year.
