The Minority in Parliament has announced an engagement with the Police on modalities toward its planned demonstration against the management of the Bank of Ghana on July 30.

Members of the Caucus staged a protest on October 3, 2023, to demand the resignation of Governor of the bank, Dr Ernest Addison and deputies over mismanagement and the construction of a-250-million-dollar new headquarters.

MP for Bawku Central, Mahama Ayariga, addressing journalists on the next protest by the Minority group said the management must be held accountable.

“And if you recall, when we demonstrated at the office, that’s the head office building, and we demanded that he receive a petition from us as a minority, “he refused to be available to receive the petition and actually publicly described us as hooligans.

“And at that demonstration, if you recall, we said that we’re going, but that we would come back,” he stated.

“It is time to go back and we are marching back to the Central Bank to demand the resignation of the governor and his deputies and the board of the bank,” he stressed.

He disclosed that they had written to the Regional Police Commander, adding that they had indicated the route they wanted to use and the date they had given to the police was July 30, 2024.

Mr. Ayariga confirmed he had received an invitation from the Regional Police Command for a meeting to the effect of the BOG Planned Protest.
