World Vision Ghana, in collaboration with ecumenical bodies in Ghana, has launched a strategic initiative aimed at amplifying media advocacy for Environmental Stewardship and Climate Action (ESCA).

The initiative was officially introduced during a special welcome address delivered by the National Director of World Vision Ghana, Jean-Claude Mukadi, at the opening of a training program for journalists in Accra.

During his address, Jean-Claude Mukadi commended media professionals for their critical role in shaping public discourse and policy decisions, stressing the necessity of strong media advocacy in driving meaningful action on environmental issues.

“In a world where public perception and policy decisions are heavily influenced by the media, journalists play an indispensable role in raising awareness, influencing policy, and encouraging broader community engagement,” he stated.

World Vision Ghana, along with various religious bodies across the country, has been at the forefront of Environmental Stewardship and Climate Action (ESCA) initiatives. Through these efforts, they have demonstrated a strong commitment to sustainable development and environmental conservation. However, Jean-Claude Mukadi stressed that maximising the impact of these initiatives requires an active and engaged media landscape to disseminate crucial environmental messages effectively.

The welcome address outlined key objectives of the ongoing training program, which seeks to empower journalists with the necessary tools and knowledge to enhance their environmental reporting. This initiative includes sessions on simplified electronic voting, the redesign of ballot papers to reduce errors and waste, and the implementation of comprehensive voter education campaigns in local languages.

One of the primary outcomes of this program is the development of a robust media advocacy framework that aligns with the ongoing environmental initiatives led by Ghana’s ecumenical bodies. By strengthening collaboration between the media and faith-based organisations, World Vision Ghana aims to keep environmental issues at the forefront of national discussions and policymaking.

The National Director concluded by encouraging participants to leverage this opportunity to drive awareness and inspire sustainable action. “Let us use this platform to amplify the church’s voice, influence policies, and work collectively towards a future that prioritises environmental stewardship and sustainable development,” he urged.
